Zephyrs grieve for 2015 seasonDear Zephyrs,

It is with heavy heart and a deep personal sense of failure that all of us here in the Yuma Bulldozer front office join you in grieving for your disastrous 2015 PEBA season.

We feel your pain.  We’ve been there.

We feel personally responsible, at least in part, for the Zephyrs’ last-place finish.  First, you counted on Yuma to finish dead last, just as we have for the past seven consecutive years.  We let you down.  Second, you counted on being able to beat the Bulldozers more times than we beat you.  Instead, Yuma won more games against you than anyone else in the league except Bakersfield (and you couldn’t beat them at all!).  Finally and perhaps most importantly, no matter how bad your season, at the end, you expected to be able to point south on Highway 95 and say, “At least Yuma lost more games than we did.”  We failed to provide you any psychic comfort whatsoever.

Aurora, NV, after the Golden YearsNo wonder you feel like packing up the whole kit and kaboodle and escaping to Aurora.  Just remember the fate of another Aurora – Aurora, Nevada – whose golden days were brief before becoming just another ghost town.

So we remind you of an offer we made before, when your prospects were brighter and you weren’t basement dwellers: let’s merge our clubs into one grand desert baseball team!  With Yuma’s atrocious pitching and Reno’s inept hitting, we might break the consecutive loss record we share.  As for the future, imagine the effect our combined first round draft choices will have on the rest of the PEBA!

Think about it.  That’s all we ask.

Yours in the agony of defeat,
Roberta Tipitina
Marianne Faithful
JoJo
and all the others in the Yuma front office

West Virginia Nailed it!!!

Today the West Virginia Alleghenies decided to revamp some of their coaches in the minor leagues.  That included firing pitching Jorge Aguilar from Maine (AA) and then promoting both David Sánchez and Akio Sai.  Doing that left an opening for a new pitching coach in Aruba (R).  While some thought that the team would go […]
