Nutmegger News
9/1/2010: Arlington, VA – It has been pretty quiet on the news front in Connecticut this season, but behind the silence have been great individual performances that haven’t been mentioned much. Might I add that not one of the performances that is going to be mentioned is that of a pitcher. The Nutmeggers’ offense has been great this year, though they seem to have hit a bit of a rough patch as of late.
Leading the charge has been 2B George John, boasting a .308 average, 36 SB and 172 hits so far this season. He has been everything any team could ask for in a leadoff man, though it never hurts to ask for more home runs. The Nutmeggers are looking forward to him being a part of the club for many years to come.
Another man’s performance cannot be overlooked one bit. Juan Otero has slugged 17 HR and batted in 98 runners this season, surpassing his career high by 10 RBI. Look out for Otero in the coming seasons.
And lastly – not that Miguel Lluea and Brooks Erickson aren’t noteworthy – is rookie José Montaño. This young slugger has belted in 14 HR and 20 doubles. Once he matures a bit, he will be sure to have a permanent spot in the middle of the Nutmeggers’ lineup.
