Mail Bag: Nutmeg Style

3/23/2011: Bridgeport, CTThis is a new series where Nutmegger and Québécois Alfred Lacey will answer questions from loyal fans about baseball, though slightly off-topic questions will be entertained as well.

Q: Alfred (can I call you Fred? Al?), as a die hard baseball fan, it really bothers me that the Nutmeggers are so horrible.  Fix this.
–Bruce in Boston

Meet Connecticut's newest journalist - 1B Alfred LacyA: Well Bruce, normally this sort of question would get tossed in the trash, but since this is the very first question for the Mail Bag I will take a stab at it.  As a die hard baseball fan, you should realize that every team has their ups and downs.  A lot of the ups and/or downs can be management-related or budget-related.  Up until recently, the budget has been the limiting reagent in Connecticut.  This year the Spice Boys have an excellent chance of competing with the best the PEBA has to offer.  Hope I avoided your question (statement?) well enough.

Q: Alfred, if you were going to write a research paper on Canada, what topic would you choose, eh?
–Ryan in Tampa Bay

A: Ryan, this is an interesting question, mostly because the most simple answer is just a few clicks away.  Ahah.  That wasn’t so hard, was it, eh?

Q: Alfred, do you prefer freshly ground nutmeg or the prepackaged kind?  I am torn.  My pumpkin pie’s future will be decided by your answer.
–William in Cupertino

A: William, are you for real?  Freshly ground is the only way to go.

Q: Alfred, predict your stats for this season.  Now.
–Sean in Boise

A: Sean, predictions are for losers.  Here is my promise: I will bat .270, hit 18 home runs, score 70 runs and drive in 75 batters.  Sounds good, eh?

Q: Ally boy, tell me one thing.  How good will the Yankees be this season?
–Tony in Astoria

A: Tony, who the heck are the Yankees?

West Virginia Nailed it!!!

Today the West Virginia Alleghenies decided to revamp some of their coaches in the minor leagues.  That included firing pitching Jorge Aguilar from Maine (AA) and then promoting both David Sánchez and Akio Sai.  Doing that left an opening for a new pitching coach in Aruba (R).  While some thought that the team would go […]
