It’s going to be A-Maze-ing!!

4/3/2023 – Opening day for the home town fans won’t happen for the Ghosts until April 14th. When that date finally rolls around, fans will be treated to a new roof covering the Maze. PEBA’s insistence to playing in Japan’s rainy season has driven most teams to solve that problem with some sort of roof or dome.
“A roof means lots of things for the team,” stated assistant GM Lee Warner, “consistent revenues on the business side and consistent weather for the players. Rain outs are generally a pain for all involved, they are a thing in the past for the Ghost organization.” Warner is speaking due to the fact that current GM Paul Tanner has been suspended. Tanner was upset over the hiring of a manger, and was suspended after an ill received winter meeting move, which sent a fan favorite player out in a trade. There has been no word as to when Tanner might return to his duties, although sources close to both side say that they wouldn’t be surprised to see the dispute drag out for a long time. The rumor mill continues to link Tanner to possible teams in the Dixie Division, which is where he spent his first stint as a GM and also won a Rodriguez cup. Tanner’s camp has even allegedly indicated that Tanner is looking at ways to get out of his current contract in order to pursue positions with other organizations. Under construction is a fitting theme indeed for a team that is trying to rebuild itself into a contender (or become a contender in the PEBA) while not having the general manager for the second half of the off season or the whole of spring training.
The Maze will be equipped with state of the art technology, in order to ensure that fans have a world-class experience at every game. The most exciting development is a technology that projects a mirror image of what the sky would look like without the dome directly onto the dome surface, thus giving the illusion of being outside. The technology will utilize real time updates from cameras posted outside the stadium and thus be able to accurately portray the sky minute by minute. The stadium design team has assured officials that the technology will have no effect on fielders trying to catch fly balls and pop ups.
Buzz around the new addition to the stadium is high as season ticket sales have seen an uptick from last year’s totals. Hopefully the product on the field will be worth the excitement.
