Construction Finished on Brewery at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium
1/30/2013: Hiroshima, Japan – The dust has settled on the new addition at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium. The Hyakujuu Shinkansen announced today the opening of the End of the Line Brewery. The converted warehouse adjacent to the right field line was fully updated to a state-of-the-art brew house and pub. Team executives are excited about creating a following that brings fans to the stadium every day and creating a family of Shinkansen followers.
Head brewer Todd Crowell was recruited from Kettle House Brewery in Missoula, Montana. He had this to say about the new watering hole: “To say this place is state-of-the-art is an understatement. What sold me on coming to Japan was Shinkansen ownership. They have allowed me creative control of the brewery; anything goes. Oh yeah, me and the general manager were old roommates back in Teton Valley.”
With an amazing view of the baseball field, the End of the Line Brewery will feature seasonal beers like the Waterfront Wit, the Strike 3 Lager, the Sax on the Tracks Pilsner, and a few more to be added soon. Head chef Matty Love will be in charge of the restaurant, which highlights the best of both American and Japanese cuisines. The brew house also incorporates a corporate conference room with a private bar.
Hyakujuu’s new superstar LF Jon Wood was spotted having lunch at the pub with Glenn Carter of LRSTradeRumors.com. 2B Ryu Sato and SP Kenko Saigo were also at the grand opening of the Brewery. Sato was impressed with the new surroundings. “I can’t wait until all the players report. I can see some good times here when the season comes. I know Okada and Aoki are going to turn this place into the hottest spot in town. ’Sax on the Track’… whoever named this beer wasn’t thinking about baseball, but it sure is good!”
The brewery is open year round and will host special events throughout the season. The events calendar has not been posted, but rumors from key sources say the first event will be a “meet the players night” sometime during the pre-season.
