Claymores add fan friendly seating areas to The Castle
Fans can look forward to new seating areas at The Castle this season that are focused on the fan experience. Free wifi has been installed to the entire stadium this season (previously only available in suites) so all fans will be able to stay up to date on what their PEBA fantasy teams are doing or be able to post about the Claymores on their favorite social media platforms.
The Scottish flag will be added to the upper deck this season behind homeplate, similar to Hampden Park pictured above. An aesthetic upgrade for sure, but something that ties into National pride and the Scottish Claymores organization made sense to upgrade for GM Sean Bain.
“The Scots are a proud people and we are proud to be here with them. It just felt right adding the flag in that spot.”
Alternative seating to the traditional stadium seats has been a trend throughout the league, and the Claymores decided to jump in on the fun. Starting this year, fans can watch the game from a new seating area called Craft & Draft that highlights local craft breweries from the area and other favorite draft beers. The area features wood back bench seating, with tables to place your favorite drink or pretzels while watching the game from the Left Filed Corner of The Castle. The new Craft & Draft seats are expected to add roughly 500 additional seats to The Castle this season.
The Claymores weren’t done adding seats for their loyal fan base this offseason. The club was able to add an additional 2,500 seats throughout various areas of the park by restructuring the current layout. The immediate response has been positive, but some fans question how that many seats could be added by not increasing the square foot of the park. Owner Brad Kern assured fans that the seating changes would be an upgrade to the fan experience.
“I can assure fans that the seats that were added to The Castle are the same size as the current seats. We didn’t have to shrink the seats to pack more fans in like the airlines do. We worked with some of the best stadium developers in the area to identify areas where additional seats could be added and at the same time have great views that were not obstructed. We think we hit the mark there, and have some additional ideas for future seasons.”
