Mafia! Under Cover of Darkness: Day 3

Day 3

Tim Hernbar wasn't about to simply let
his artistic talents go to waste because of
the nonsensical advice of an insane knight.

When it became clear that Larry Dowlon
did intend to stick him through with the silver
dagger, he made a break for it.

Image

Out the church he ran quick as a whip
with the others in hot pursuit.

Suddenly, a strange sound pierced the air.

*BOING!*

"What was that?" someone cried.

"Run away!" yelled another.

And then, hurtling out of the sky towards
them was the shape of a cow, which
just happened to land directly
on the fleeing artist.

Image

"I guess we better stab him to be sure
he wasn't a werewolf, eh?"

Image

Dowlon plunged the dagger into Tim's
neck and watched in anticipation.

"What happens now?" asked Sarah horrified.

"Apparently nothing," Dowlon concluded.

***

Later that night, Brett Jonasco stood
reflecting in the Garden of Reflection.

Image

"Fastball? Splitter?" he said in anquish.
"I have never second guessed myself before!"

He continued to argue with himself as if he
had an angel on one shoulder and a demon
on the other. He brought up past games and
recalled counts in which he'd called for the
wrong pitch only to see the ball land hundreds of
feet away in the hands of a happy fan.

Gradually, he worked himself into a frenzy,
the hair on his neck standing on end.

And then he let out a mighty howl.

Image

***

Elsewhere, Eli Solmirro was busying
himself watering the gravestones.

"I can always think more clearly," he
said to himself, "When I'm farming.
Just because they won't grow doesn't
mean they don't need the love and care
a farmer can provide."

Image

He worked his way through the broken
stones, taking care of each one in turn.

"It's really ashame to see that no one
paid attention to these!"

In his studiousness, it was clear that
Eli wasn't paying attention either.

Image

He never heard the creature that
came swiftly from behind, and was
quickly dispatched from this earth.

Image

***

One who did have an eye on what
had happened in the graveyard was
a cute little panda.

Image

He stood and watched from behind the
tree until the werewolf left the graveyard
and then confronted him silently.

After seeing the situation, the werewolf
charged forward.

Image

A gunshot came with the first movement,
but the werewolf charged on ...

Image

... straight into the waiting dagger.

The panda took his leave as the
creature lay defeated.

Image

As the life drained from him,
Brett Jonasco returned to his human self.

Image

***

"I've got some good news," Dowlon began
the next morning, "and some bad news."

"Give us the good news first!"

"The bad news is that Tim Hernbar was town."

"Boo!"

"The good news is," Dowlon went on, "this
lovely landscape has just increased in value
ten fold! I guess it's true that artists are
never appreciated until they're dead."

Image

"Is that it?"

"Actually, no. It seems that Brett
mauled Eli to death before someone
stabbed him in the neck.

"Naturally, that means that Brett was
a werewolf. Eli, as I'm sure many of
you can already guess, was a loyal townie.

"Now go make all your votes happy votes."

Rules
  1. Each player will be given a character to play who will be aligned with either the Town, the Werewolves, or niether. Town wins when all threats to the town have been eliminated and there is at least one town player alive. The werewolves win when they obtain a majority or nothing can prevent this from occurring. Any other party characters will have their own win conditions outlined in their roles.
  2. Each day you will vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format: Vote: Character (Forum Handle). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format: Unvote: Character (Forum Handle). No other format will be accepted. You may unvote and revote as many times as you like. Players must receive at least 50% of the votes to be lynched. If there is a tie, then no lynch will occur. Failing to post in the day thread will result in a vote penalty the following day equal to the remaining number of players divided by 4.
  3. A game day will last approximately 5 days. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end at the appointed time, unless the group are decided on a lynch and the moderator decides to end it early. After the day has concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of the night stage. They will not be accepted after this deadline has passed.
  4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night will be revealed at the beginning of the next day.
  5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you via PM, either by the host or another player. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. Similarly, conversations held in private may be discussed in your own words.
  6. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread, via PM with other players, and through means designated by the host. Do not play the game elsewhere or post in old day threads. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. Metagame at your own risk.
  7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on.
  8. You may not edit your posts. Editing a post will result in a vote penalty the same day, equal to the number of remaining players divided by 4.
  9. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM. No other communication with the hosts will be accepted or acknowledged.
  10. Any interpretation of rules that require clarification is at the hosts discretion and the host's word is final.
  11. Violation of the above rules will result in vote penalties at the host's discretion, with the possibility of death for repeated offenses.

Ezra Aferlaus: Whoa.

I wasn't prepared for so. much. blood. Shakes his head, slaps his face

We need to get our **** together. I am thinking we are probably in a pretty decent positions thanks to that Panda, whoever it is. The wolves have the be close to wiped out. I doubt there is more than 2 left. Probably only one. But there is at least one, or this thing would be over already.

I was wrong about Tim. I am not happy about that. But the voting analysis seems to have been a useful tool. Brett's refusal to advance the ball could be interpreted as significant in retrospect...

The next move probably need to be some talk about what everyone saw last night. Personally, I didn't see a thing. Anyone have anything to tell the group?

Harold Rannom: Yes, frankly, the lack of discussion about what happened night before last probably cost us one or maybe even two of our cohort. For my part, I will admit that I don't sleep well these days, listening and lying in wait to take action, but so far all I have to report is a bunch of insomnia and nothing else. [Yawn]

Who has anything to report?

With the heat of the day kicking in
the group decided to spend the afternoon
taking a dip in the stream.

Ezra and Ivanna laid out some towels
while Harold revealed some tattoos.

Image

He refused to take off his jewelry.

Marty and Julie waded in the stream,
while Sam took a running dive.

"Geronimooooo!"

Image

"You should totally try that!"
he beamed. "Maybe we can get
some rope and set up a swing
from the branches of the tree!"

Image

"Go for it," Julie said sarcastically.

Julie Von Riesal: Unfortunately, I didn't see anything last night either. Sam? Marty? Ivanna? Someone had to have seen something.

I agree with Ezra - we must have the Wolves on the ropes.

VOTE: Ivanna Prerosky

Ivanna, what say you? Sam? Marty? You are the three who have shared nothing about what you may have heard or seen overnight.

Sam Riethar: Nothing out of the norm over here, there's only a few of us left, so there probably is only one werewolf left. Now the real question, WHO is it?

Julie Von Riesal: If no one has any information, do you guys think it's best NOT to lynch anyone to avoid friendly fire with us being so close to getting rid of the wolves?

Or is making sure we lynch someone a better strategy? I'm at a loss without much to go on here.

Harold Rannom: Julie, you bring up a good point, but I would make one observation - it's not that "no one has any information", it's that everyone but you, me, Sam, and Ezra is unwilling to say whether or not they saw, heard, or did anything. That leaves Marty and Ivanna silent on the matter. That's suspicious. Granted, maybe they are too shell-shocked by all of the bloodshed last night to say anything, but if that's the case then they aren't doing us any good anyway. I'm willing to be convinced that Ivanna is not a werewolf, but I think it's in our best interest to put someone to the dagger tonight. You can bet the werewolves will be on the prowl and one of us will die - we need to put the pressure on and cause the one remaining wolf to make a mistake.

Ivanna Prerosky: Hey! Don't throw me under the bus like that! I didn't see or hear anything either, but I do agree with Julie. We need to lynch someone or we're just wasting time here.

VOTE: Marty Canoon

He hasn't said squat, so if we're gonna start throwing names out there like that, make sure it's not mine.

Sam Riethar: I agree with Ivanna and Julie, someone needs to be lynched, otherwise, the wolves will have a step on us and we may lose any chance we had at finding them all.
