Fat Toad, revisited

#1 Post by Matt »

Loved seeing this. Hoping he blows up in the Yankees face. A 25 year old who can't run a mile. Pathetic.

How is that even possible?

It's a mile?! I run that thing in like 5 minutes!

This is just a bad sign, one that shows he won't be pitching too deep into games for the Yankees

This too angers me, what #3 starter gets $155M???

What GM, in their right mind would shell out this cash for a mid-rotation starter?

I don't know that it will affect him early in the season, but get deep into the hot summer months and have no legs underneath. That's a recipe for a meltdown. And when the legs go, the mechanics follow suit, the body starts compensating, and bingo, you tear a labrum or a rotator cuff.

Not that I will feel any sympathy for the Yankees. As a baseball fan, it is my duty to despise them and hope this and everything else they do ends in disaster.

I can probably look it up, but did he play indoors in Japan (dome, roof, etc)?

I would just like to thank you for re-introducing the phrase "fat toad" to my brain. I had completely and totally forgotten about that great moment in Yankee history.

Can you ever be called an athlete if you have difficulty running 1 mile?

I would venture to say that most baseball players are not athletes.

I remember watching a Braves game on TBS back in the mid-to-late 80s when Terry Forrester (?) pitched for them. The announce one game actually said the guy looked like a "fat tub of goo" out on the mound, which, admittedly he kinda did. That phrase became an oft-quoted thing in my family for several years.
