3-4 sim. Pitching got hammered including a 17-7 loss. My staff has now fallen to 14th in the league, but this time the bullpen is the culprit.

The Neat: Hyung-on Che continues to move up the ladder. After coming back from his injury last season, Che went 5-0 with an 0.96 ERA in Ensenada, Che was promoted to AA Delaware and promptly threw 7 innings of shutout ball.

Even Neater: When I took over the team before the 2038 season right after the Rule V draft the Trendsetters had the 25th ranked farm system. With the development of Che, the acquisition of Tony Mendez and first round pick Harry Belafonte along with the continued progression of Lhi-Zhu Ho and Gabriel Santos, New Orleans now have the 6th ranked farm system.

Neat: Juan Rodriguez ties the SL regular season extra inning record for triples with 2

The Codgers win a 17 inning game vs Shin Seki 7-6

Not so Neat: Robby Rollins ties the PS regular season extra inning record for 5 strikeouts. He is really good at striking out.

Neat: Rookie C/1B Rick Galloway (PEBA #5 prospect) has crushed the baseball in 33 games and 134 PA since being called up with a slash line of .307/.396/.561/.957 with 7 HR and 19 RBI. The Warriors signed Galloway to a minor league as a free agent in late June 2038. Since then he has developed rapidly into a potential star.

Not so neat: The Warriors seems to be in a team funk going from bad to worse with a 2-11 record in the two weeks just prior to the All-Star classic.

Neat: 4-2 sim with no major injuries. New Orleans does have a ton of minor leaguers on the DL, but the only MLB player is David Sanz who blew out his elbow late last year and will likely miss this entire season. Tenshin Kudo and Michele Bastid had great weeks. Bastid is now among the league leaders in hitting at .325 and is having his best season so far. Tenshin Kudo had a nice week and hit his 15th and team leading 16th home run of the year. Hyung-On Che continues to rocket up the ladder. He started the season in Single A Ensenada and in six starts went 5-0 with a 0.95 ERA. Moved up to AA Che made 4 starts, going 1-0 with a miniscule 0.38 ERA. Promoted to the AAA Braggerts, Che has pitched 8.2 innings without allowing a run though he did have to leave his last start with a mild oblique strain. The injury is did and he should be ready for his next start.

Not so Neat: The bullpen continues to falter with Josh Cheney, despite being among league leaders in saves, now sporting a 4+ ERA. I’ve been able to patch together a bullpen of spare parts my first two years that usually ranked in the top half of the league, but this year the bullpen ranks 15th.

Neat: 5-1 sim against some tough competition in a growing Charleston and a strong Scottish. Our offense continues to power us this season after some very risky moves that saw the exit of a lot of supplementary arms.

Not so Neat: Fine tuning pitching continues to be a concern. We've always managed by with solid, but not great pitching. Goto continues to fumble on his way out the gate here in New Jersey, maybe he will have a similar start as Jaramillo and be blah till next season !+) Attempts to move picks for a sure starter have fallen flat this year. May this be the first upcoming season New Jersey drafts on day 1?

Neat: 6-1 SIM for the Codgers. The new look lineup is starting to click along with the return of Perez.

Speaking of Perez, he is loving his new lineup protection with Franco and Knox - he hit .310 and 4HRs with 13RBIs this SIM

Rookie Carlos Ocasio is playing extremely well hitting .350 last week. We need him to develop so we can play Knox at 1B and move Rollins back to the OF/DH

Rookie Javier Cervantes is steadily producing after a slow start to the season.

Newly acquired LHP Jordan Morgan is liking his new home posting a 1.20ERA and 0.47WHiP in 15 innings of work

Super utility player Juan Rodriguez signed a 1 year extension for $1.3MM. He has been stellar since arriving in Palm Springs hitting .298 in 104ABs to go along with his stellar defense. He has also swiped 13 bases

Not so Neat: Not a lot of whine about this SIM. I'd still like to add a RHP power arm for the back end of the bullpen but they are hard to come by. A few big decisions coming in regards to expiring contracts and who to try and bring back. A couple aging players looking for long contracts and big money

It's been a streaky year - and in the space of two months we went from high-water mark, to low-water, and back to high - and with the number of 4- and 5-game win and losing streaks, what's team to think about at the trade deadline? We've been dancing around the same 9-game spread all year. We definitely need to break out past +4 - which our pythag says is where we belong.

The team is not doing so well after a disappointing 1-6 sim. However, there is some good news: OF Michel Bastide was named the IL Batter of the Week going 14-28. He is now hitting .335 and sits in second in the race for the batting title. Though I don’t think Vito can Wondel has much to worry about as he is currently hitting .369.

Neat:
-We are unintentionally the 6th best team in defensive efficiency.. somehow.
-Hayakawa tied the Okinawa record for strikeouts in a game with 13 for the fifth time. One of these days can he push to 14??

Not So Neat:
-Only tied for 9th in team homeruns
-We have 15 games remaining this season against Toyoma including a stretch in Sept when play them on 3 consecutive weekends.

Neat: Rookie Rick Galloway continues to crush the ball. One of few bright spots during a dismal season. Last week he was 8-17 with a 1.295 OPS. In 51 games (45 GS) he has 12 HR, 31 RBI, and a .322/.390/.592/.982 slash line.

Not so neat: The mystery centered in the bullpen is the recent implosion of closer Shirai Mori. In 10 appearances and 9.1 IP since the beginning of July, he has allowed 17 H and 12 ER. The 2.14 WHIP is unexplainable, especially after he logged a 1.86 ERA, a 0.62 WHIP, 1 win, and 4 saves in 9.2 IP in June.

Also not so neat: The total futility of the Warriors at bat and on the mound has been a dramatic, disappointing crash that has seen us drop from a competitive team into the basement of the Great Lakes.

.500 SIM so nothing too exciting overall

Neat: Shigochiyo Yamaguchi with the no-hotter vs Reno in a 4-0 win. He gave up 3 walks with 9 Ks

Robbie Rollins with only 1 strikeout in 21 plate appearances while hitting .350 for the week - this is a high mark for Robbie.

Not so neat: James McCoy with the rare shitcan, 1.1IP, 5R in a 5-3 loss vs Reno

C Freddy Morales extension of 4 years at $17MM, $16.5MM, $16.5MM and $16MM - he can thank the thin catching options in the league for that contract.

4-2 sim to continue a hot 8-3 start to the month of August.

Damned be the OOTP schedule generators as we enter a 2 week stretch of back to back WV and HAR series. Going to get sick of seeing each other

Old man Bob Burns is 6 saves away from 500 on the career and still not showing many signs of stopping.

Time to curse Thomas Connolly again...

Back to back starts with 10+K's.

The most recent being a complete game shutout of Hartford, with 15K's.

Only one other pitcher in PEBA has more punchouts in a game this season and that is Dave Lopez with 16 for Niihama-shi back on May 16th. The 2039 season had zero pitchers accomplish this feat.
