April 7, 1983

Garcia gets the start for RGV. Uglanov, whom we traded 6 days ago to Brooklyn because he was out of options, starts for the Bluebloods.

An rbi single by Jewell in the top of the first opens the scoring. A two out rbi double by Suarez makes it 2-0. Fonseca hits a 2 run HR in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game at 2. Miller hits a two run shot in the bottom of the 3rd to put Brooklyn in front 4-2.

Brousse comes home on a wild pitch in the 4th to cut the deficit to 4-3.

Martinez homers for Brooklyn in the bottom of the 4th to make it 5-3. With two outs and a runner at first, Gonzales relieves Garcia.

Flores leads off the 5th with a triple, and Campos relieves Uglanov for Brooklyn. An rbi single by Caldwell makes it a 1 run game again, 5-4. Jewell hits his first HR of the season in the 7th to tie the game at 5.

With 2 on and1 out in the bottom of the 7th, Patterson relieves Gonzales. Lopez greets him with a 3 run HR, 8-5 Brooklyn. After giving up a base hit to the other left handed batter, Patterson is relieved by Gutierrez.

With one out in the 8th, Sanchez relieves Campos for Brooklyn. The lefty Elias on to pitch the 9th for the Bluebloods.

A dropped fly ball by the CF Flores on what would have been the third out of the inning allows a run to come home for Brooklyn in the bottom of the 2nd. Lopez hits his 2nd HR of the season in the bottom of the 2nd to make it 2-0.

An rbi single by Gonzalez in the 4th cuts the deficit to 2-1.

A sac fly by Suarez in the top of the 6th ties the game at 2.

Becerra leads off the 8th with a triple, and Leon singles him home for a 3-2 Ocelots lead.

With 2 out in the bottom of the 8th, Schurman relieves Becker.

Ruiz on to pitch the 9th for Brooklyn. An rbi single by Flores makes it 4-2 RGV. An rbi single by Becerra makes it 5-2. A balk sends the 6th run home. With 2 on and one out, Bentley relieves Ruiz.

A sac fly by Miller in the 3rd makes it 3-1. A two out rbi single by Martinez in the bottom of the 6th makes it 4-1.

An rbi double by Fa in the top of the 7th cuts the deficit to 4-2. A wild pitch will score Fa with 2 outs and the Ocelots trail by a run, 4-3.

A two run HR by Miller in the bottom of the 7th makes it 6-3, and that's all for the overpaid bum Williams. Patterson on in relief. With one out in the 8th, Miller relieves Patterson.

Werner hits a 2 run HR in the top of the 7th to break the scoreless tie. 2-0 Bronx.

With one on and two out in the bottom of the 8th, Gonzalez relieves Lorimer.

Patterson on to pitch the 9th for RGV.

Jones, 1-0 3.00, starts for RGV. Canseco makes his first start for Bronx.

Becerra doubles home a run in the bottom of the first for RGV, 1-0. Brousse doubles him home for a 2-0 lead. An rbi groundout by Caldwell makes it 3-0. Flores follows with his 1st HR of the season, a 3 run shot, and it's 6-0. A two out rbi single by Becerra makes it 7-0. Vargas relieves Canseco, who couldn't get out of the first, runners at the corners with 2 out.

Jewell leads off the bottom of the 2nd with an infield single, but leaves with a strained quadriceps and will miss the next 5 weeks. There's a big bat that's hard to replace. A two out wild pitch brings home the Ocelots 8th run. An rbi single by Flores makes it 9-0.

Aguilar on to pitch the 6th for Bronx.

Jones goes the distance, scattering 10 hits but recording the shutout.

Fajardo leads off the bottom of the 5th with his 1st HR and it's 4-1 RGV. Olvera doubles home a run with one out in the bottom of the 7th, and Kerr relieves Medina. A two out rbi single by Caldwell makes it 6-1. Fa follows with an rbi single to make it 7-1. Olvera singles home a run with 2 out in the 8th to make it 8-1.

Ruan comes on to work the 9th.

A 63 minute rain delay in the 4th ends the night for Becker. Gonzales on in relief for RGV. With one out and one on in the 5th, Schurman relieves Gonzales. An rbi single by Baca makes it 2-1 Bennies. A sac fly by Sang makes it 3-1.

With one out in the 6th, Desidrio relieves Love for Garden State. Fajardo hits his 2nd HR of the season, a 2 run shot, an the game is tied at 3.

A two out rbi single by Walter in the bottom of the 7th gives Garden St a 4-3 lead. Mendoza follows with an rbi single to make it 5-3. Gutierrez on in relief. After a walk, a two run single by Vargas makes it 7-3 Bennies.

Nicoletti needs to be babied because of his lack of stamina, so the rotation gets the first shuffle. Patterson makes just the 2nd start of his IHL career (109 relief appearances 3+ seasons). Devonald, 1-1 5.14, starts for Garden State. Caldwell and Fa need days off, so Cordova is at SS with Gonzalez at 2b.

Flores triples home a run in the top of the 2nd to get RGV started, 1-0. An rbi groundout by Cordova makes it 2-0.

An rbi single by Vargas in the bottom of the 2nd cuts the lead to 2-1. An rbi single by Velez ties the game at 2.

An error by Robinson with 2 out in the third allows a run to come home for RGV and it's 3-2.

A 2 out rbi single by Velez in the bottom of the 6th ties the game at 3. An rbi single by Robinson in the bottom of the 7th gives Garden St a 4-3 lead. With 2 on and one out, Gonzales relieves Patterson. With 2 outs, Rosas hits a 3 run HR, and it's 7-3.

Becerra leads off the 8th with his 3rd HR of the season and the deficit is cut to 7-4.

An rbi single by Hargrove in the top of the 7th ties the game at 3. Credit the Ocelots crappy defense for that unearned run. With runners at the corners and no outs, Gutierrez relieves a visibly pissed Jones. A two run single by Perez with one out makes it 5-3 Invaders.

With one out and 2 on in the 9th, Ruan relieves Gutierrez.

Diaz relieves Charles to start the 9th for Columbus. Our retarded catcher gets throw out at third trying to stretch a double into a triple leading off the 9th trailing by 2. Someone just got benched for a couple days. Suarez doubles with two outs, and Leon singles him home to make it 5-4. Ortiz flies out to end what might have been a tie game if not for a certain bonehead mistake.

Gonzales, 0-1 5.40, will make a spot start here as Nicoletti needs to be backed up a day or so. Morales, 1-2 3.00, starts for Washington. Brousse is on the bench.

Green hits a grand slam in the bottom of the first, his 2nd HR of the year, and the Jackals lead 4-0. Sanchez follows with his 2nd dinger, 5-0. With 2 on and no out in the 4th, Patterson relieves Gonzales. With one out and the bags empty in the 5th, Miller comes on in relief. With 2 out and 2 on in the 6th, Schurman comes on in relief.

Green hits his 3rd HR of the season in the bottom of the 7th to make it 6-0.

Hill comes on to pitch for Washington with one out in the 9th.

Gonzalez hits his first HR of the season in the top of the 2nd, a 2 run shot, and it's 2-0 RGV. An rbi single by Chen in the third makes it 3-0.

An rbi groundout by Escamilla in the bottom of the 5th cuts the lead to 3-1.

With one out in the 8th, Yorke on to pitch for Washington.

Ruan relieves Nicoletti to start the 8th. With 2 outs, Sanchez comes on in relief.

Yorke on to pitch for the Jackals with one out in the 9th.

Two hits and then an error spoil Williams shut out in the 9th. With 2 on and no outs, Ruan relieves Williams. Ruan walks the first batter to load the bags, then gets a double play ball that allows the 2nd run to come home. With 2 outs and a runner at third, Sanchez comes on in relief. He walks Green, but gets Sanchez to ground out to 2nd to end the game.

An rbi single by Hall in the 4th cuts the lead to 3-1. An rbi single by Cameron in the 5th cuts the lead to 3-2. Garcia
's 7th walk of the day forces home the tying run with 2 out in the 5th.

An rbi single by Ortiz in the bottom of the 5th puts RGV back in front 4-3.

Schurman on to pitch in the 6th for RGV. A sac fly by Lopez brings home an unearned run that ties the game at 4.

An rbi single by Becerra in the bottom of the 6th puts RGV back in front 5-4. A sac fly by Ortiz makes it 6-4. A two out 2 run double by Caldwell makes it 8-4. Brown on in relief for Fort Worth.

Zunigga doubles home a run in the top of te 7th to cut the lead to 8-5. A two out rbi single by Hall cuts it to 8-6. Two batters later an rbi single by Roberts makes it 8-7, and Schurman departs. Miller on in relief.

Caldwell leads off the bottom of the 7th with his 2nd HR and it's 1-0 RV. A one out rbi double by Suarez makes it 2-0. A sac fly by Cordova makes it 3-0.

Miller comes on to pitch the 8th for RGV. With runners at the corners and two out, Ruan relieves Miller.

A two out rbi single by Brousse in the 8th extends the lead to 4-0.

An error by Fa in the bottom of the 4th allows a run to come home for Odessa, 2-1 Oilers. Negrete follows with a2 run single to make it 4-1. A two out rbi triple by Flores in the bottom of the 5th makes it 5-1 Odessa.

Flores hits his 3rd HR of the season in the top of the 6th to cut the deficit to 5-2.

A two out rbi double by Reyes in the 6th makes it 6-2, and Williams heads for the showers. Miller on in relief.

A two out rbi single by Becerra in the 7th cuts the deficit to 6-3. Lewis comes on in relief for Odessa. An rbi double by Fa in the 8th cuts the deficit to 6-4, and Cox comes on in relief with no out. Flores greets him with an rbi double and it's 6-5. The lefty Borquez relieves Cox, and Brousse greets him by singling home the tying run, 6-6.

Becerra doubles home a run in the 9th to cut the deficit to 4-1. After an error by Horton allows a 2nd run to come home, Forfrias comes on in relief with a runner at first and no outs.

Alaniz hits his 4th HR in the top of the first, a 2 run shot, and it's 2-0 Longhorns. A sac fly by Pacheco in the 3rd makes it 3-0.

A two out rbi single by Leon in the bottom of the third gets RGV on the board. Two batters later Brousse singles home a run and the Ocelots have cut the deficit to 3-2.

Cole hits his 1st hr in the top of the 4th and it's 4-2 Longhorns.

An rbi groundout by Ortiz in the 6th cuts the deficit to 4-3. A two out 2 run double by Chen gives RGV a 5-4 lead, but Chen breaks his thumb on the slide into second and will be lost for the next 6 weeks. Martinez in to replace Chen. With one out and one on in the 7th, Mata comes on in relief for Austin.

With 2 out in the 8th, Patterson relieves Williams for RGV.

Ortiz hits his 3rd Hr of the year in the bottom of the 8th, 6-4 RGV.

With one out and a runner at 1st in the 9th, Pyon relieves Patterson.

A bases loaded walk to Alvarado in the 5th cuts the lead to 4-2. An rbi groundout by Dougherty makes it 4-3. An rbi groundout by Hernande ties the game at 4.

A sac fly by Leon in the bottom of the 5th puts RGV back in front 5-4.

With 2 out and a runner at third in the 6th, Schurman relieves Becker. With two out in the 8th, Gutierrez on in relief. With 2 out in the 9th, Ruan comes on in relief.

Fa comes home on a balk with 2 out in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game at 5. Leon doubles home a run to give RGV a 6-5 lead.

A leadoff single in the 8th finishes Schurman. Gutierrez on in relief. After an error and a walk load the bases with no outs, Ruan comes into pitch. Beal hits into a double play but the tying run comes home, 6-6.

Austin in to pitch the bottom of the 9th for Charlotte. With one out and a runner at first in the 10th, Austin leaves with an injury and Garcia on to pitch for the Bankers.
