The simple fact that he broke team rules and didn't show up to the training facility should be enough, whether he was in Vegas sort of being besides the point. Then of course we have the case of the other first round bust Gilbert, who evidently doesn't own an alarm clock and misses a lot of meetings. Gilbert was drafted higher but gets little attention for how big of a bust he has been. He owes Johnny Screwup some gratitude for that.

I love this hire. Love it.

DePodesta has all the skills needed to establish the analytical processes a franchise needs. This is breaking the role of the GM in to several component parts. The Browns will be left with basically a head scout in the "GM" role. I am fine with that.

This is a big step in changing how the franchise runs. I think it can only help.

I'm with Kevin on this. If there's one thing the Browns need, it's brains. That organization needs to be consuming brains like starving zombies. Paul DePodesta may not be the Golden Child he's sometimes portrayed to be, but the dude is smart. Smart people should be turned loose on problems, and the Browns are all manner of problems wrapped in pigskin. So have at it, Mr. DePodesta, and bless you for even caring to try.

The Maziel saga keeps getting more bizarre. It now features Jake "The Snake" Roberts.

When the police are hunting you by helicopter, I would say your days on an NFL roster are probably numbered.

Look like this is finally almost over:

Browns blast Johnny Manziel, will cut him ASAP

I was willing to grant him an awful lot of slack, but I am OK with this. Time to move on. He has been unable to become a somewhat professional athlete. His talent does not justify the down sides.

So, Goff?

Manziel has spiraled down so far that now even his agent has cut ties with him.

That may have been the most damning indictment yet. When your agent speaks of your lack of accountability, that tells me this kid is off the scale messed up. Agents usually coddle and protect the player no matter what. I think Johnny has stepped on an NFL field for the last time.
