My San Diego Padres
My San Diego Padres
San Diego Padres solo league thread. I'm in 2021 and have been running the Padres for 8 years now and have amassed a record of 843-469. This goes along my 3 WS titles and a runner-up finish last year (Won the previous 3). My team is stacked though with young good players. The farm isn't too shabby either.
Re: My San Diego Padres
2021…MLB now has 34 teams, 170 game schedule (both adopted '19). Down to two divisions in each league. 4 expansion teams are located in Hawaii, Portland, Montreal, and San Juan. DH is being added to NL this year, to improve hitting and try to eliminate all of these strikeouts. I'm projected to win 121 game this, not too bad I guess haha.

Lets start with the financials of my 2021 Padres. We have a top 10 budget now in a below-average sized market. Fan loyalty and interest are through the roof. Overall, I'm very stable financially.

I'm the GM, obviously. I have a pretty good coaching staff in place too. My manager is 27-year-old Ben Miller. Truth be told, he's also my star OF. Ever since he took over as manager 4 years ago, we've made it to the World Series, winning 3. Other then that I brought in 'Mr. Hustle' Willie Harris to be my hitting coach, even though my guys don't need too much coaching
The legendary pitching coach Jeff Jones is earning his paycheck, by helping guide the best staff in baseball.

Re: My San Diego Padres
Jamal Clark- ACE. He's hands down the best SP in MLB and looks destined to be the greatest of all time. He's already won 6 Cy-Young awards. He was taken with the 1st overall pick in 2013 (I have draft pick trading enabled). During his senior year at Elk River HS in Minnesota, Clark posted a perfect 10-0 record, a spotless 0.00 ERA and struck out over 248 in 108 innings. My scout had him on the gun at 92-94 when he was 18, to go along with his 4 plus-plus pitches. He was an athlete, as he was a very good hitter, too. He hit a remarkable .585 with 35 extra base hits (out of 48 hits total). He also swiped 35 bags in his final HS season. Drafted on June 6th, he signed shortly thereafter for an $8M bonus. I assigned him to the AZL Padres and he started opening day for them. He started 8 games there and went 3-3 with a 3.75 ERA. I promoted him to A- Eugene. He made 4 more starts there and totaled a 1-2 record in 25 IP. At this point the low minors seasons were over now. I made probably one the the gutsiest decisions ever and promoted him to the ML level. He was an absolute stud out of high school, so he could get guys out at the big league level. The real question was how often though? He lacked some command at that point and didn't throw particularly hard. Clark went on to make 4 appearances that September for the Friars. He started one. He got his first big league win in his only start, the final game of the season. In 9.2 innings, Clark surrendered 7 hits, 4 ER, walked 6 and K'd 7. This came out to a 3.72 ERA. Too small of a sample size though. He'd be looking at A ball for 2014. This was just a taste for him, get him some big league coaching and show him the pace of the game. What happened in 2014 was truly remarkable. He shut down everyone is the California League before getting a promotion to AA San Antonio. There in 6 starts, he was even better. Then he got the call, for good. The rest is history. You can see most of his stats in the picture.
