Introduction
Hi everyone. My name is Scott Miller and I'm currently looking into joining your league. I have been an OOTP player since version 6, but have never really given online leagues a shot before. With all of the excitement for the release of version 9 I decided I wanted to give it a try. There weren't many fictional leagues currently running 9, so I started checking out the other forums and stumbled across this league. I have been talking to John and if everything works out I'll be taking over the London Underground.
I have to say I'm impressed by the level of participation in the league. I think this will be a great experience.

Welcome to the league, Scott! I'm glad you like what you see so far. You've certainly got a challenge ahead of you with the Underground, but I think you'll be glad you've accepted it.
If you have any questions feel free to ask, and I highly recommend reading through the writing archives to get a feel for some of the personalities - be they of GMs, managers, players, beat writers, or wives - that have developed. And, of course, we'll all be eagerly awaiting your first contribution.
In conclusion, you should definitely trade me Orlando German for Pancho Martinez. Look what a great defender Pancho is!

Great to see you here, Scott! I think you'll find the group is very sociable and easy to get along with. I've certainly enjoyed my time with them (although that darn Codgers owner sure gets on my nerves, beating me up every series we play the way he does... ). By the way, Scott has posted a brief news release about his potential takeover of the Underground... check it out!
The Underground are indeed in need of a makeover, but it's certainly not an impossible task. As Tempe pointed out, his team has become a great deal more competitive just one season removed from being dead last in the league. One thing that will help is the level of trade activity; PEBA owners are very active in the trade market, making that a viable route for substantial improvement. That being said, I definitely advise taking some time to get familiar with the roster before jumping into the trade pool.
I hope everyone will send their greetings out to Scott, make him feel comfortable and answer any questions he might have. Hope to be seeing you around, Scott!

welcome scott, it seems that the commish has forgotten, until the sl can win a championship...they simply can't rule...so unless they are able to take it back to the sub league then imperial league will always rule..
and if you have any questions feel free to ask, always helpful opinions around here

Bienvenidos Senor Scott!
Welcome to PEBA! If you are a baseball junkie, PEBA is for you! I hope you dive right in and get entrenched in the Underground. Once you get a feel for the names in the London organization-you'll get more comfortable. I would recommend spending a decent amount of time understanding the financials of OOTP. It governs quite a bit of what we all can do and if you understand how the finances work-you won't make money mistakes and you'll feel more in control.
Have a great time browsing the Underground and PEBA is a phenomenal league for getting your questions answered. Everybody is willing to help and John(commish) is accurate and extremely quick with answers to your questions. Good luck and have fun!
IL will get a nice dose of reality when the 2008 Rodriguez Cup is handed out. The SL will be well represented this year!

CP Tracker
with a new owner of London coming in , ithink his penalties with the CP tracker should be set to 0 and maybe a 5 point bonus for taking over the team, just a thought

i think this is right ... and maybe doesn't go far enough.Knights wrote:with a new owner of London coming in , ithink his penalties with the CP tracker should be set to 0 and maybe a 5 point bonus for taking over the team, just a thought
maybe the commish could "multiply" his CP points to take into account the season is almost halfway over? i mean, if the owner does all of his exports, etc. and 50% of the maximum posts / writing, i think he should get "credit" for twice that. in other words, if he does a half-season of "CP work" we should give him the benefit of the doubt and give him credit for having done it all season.
just a thought.

Thanks for the welcome all, I appreciate it. I know the financial side of the game is something that I will have to make sure I understand inside and out to be successful. Of course, I used them in my solo leagues, but never really paid enough attention to say I really knew all of the details of what was going on. It looks like London has it's fair share of good young talent available, so I am excited to get rolling.
