THE ARBITRATION GAME IS OVER AND MOST OF US ARE RELIEVED
Well, everybody kicked my ass!
I guess I know less about guessing arbitration amounts than Dusty Baker knows about managing a professional baseball team.
Thanks for playing all & the results are in:
The percentage listed is the % you missed by on your average guess.
So, the lower the percentage number, the better you did!
Borealis 7 guesses for 31%
Coal Sox 1 guess for 44%
Bears 4 guesses for 29%
Thoroughbreds 3 guesses for 67%
Calzones 4 guesses for 31%
Longshoremen 5 guesses for 97%
Trendsetters 7 guesses for 40%
Nutmeggers 3 guesses for 35%
Cyclones 7 guesses for 64%
Hitmen 8 guesses for 29%
Bureaucrats 24 guesses for 46%
Sandgnats 37 guesses for 81%
If I had to pick a winner, it would be Arlington Bureaucrats due to the fact that he was only one of two to guess at more than 10 players and none of them were his own!
Points of interest:
-Jason Jackson of the Longshoremen was awarded $505,267 and the average guess for his salary was $2,266,666, which happens to be over 4 times what he made!
-The player who made the most in arbitration(who was listed here) was George Riley of the Longshoremen for $8,355,000. That's still a bargain for a guy who hit 330 with a 440 OBP, right?
-The most bizarre comparison is that of Merlin Peters (Calzones) who made $5,430,000 for 3 whole innings of work. Compare that to Conan McCullough (Trendsetters) who made $5,884,400. Hmmmm, this guy in 180 IP struck out 225 and had a 1.80 ERA with 2 HR allowed. Easily the best pitcher in the league and they reward him with less than $6 Million. WOW! All I can say is that the Trendsetters management definitely wined and dined the arbitrator.
Overall, the pitchers seemed to receive a lot less than the hitters did. Why? I have no idea. Well, I learned a lot this year-hopefully you did too!

Sounds like fun! And if we get enough participation before tonight's sim I just may dish out a small CP bonus to the winner. Now I have quite a number of pricey arbitration guys, so this ought to be a challenge for me. Lesse...

Don't you mean Alberto Delgado? There are no former MLB'ers in PEBA, not after the events that brought about that now-defunct league's demise...Bears wrote:Carlos Delgado: $6.2 million
