Bayou Brief: Sports

After a dismal offensive start, it seems the position players had had enough ribbing from the pitching staff. Before yesterday’s game, it was assumed a pitching prankster had hung copies of the latest articles outlining the Trendsetter’s offensive deficiencies. While it was a good natured jab, the locker room took on an air of intensity that had not been there before.
Chandler Davis took the mound and things didn’t look good in the early going as Connecticut scored three runs on a sac fly and a two run homerun.
However, New Orleans came to life in the as Valdez doubled, and Scott hit a 2-run homerun in the bottom of the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth, Valdez hit a solo homerun tying the game at three. The score remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning.
Valdez led of the bottom of the seventh with his second solo shot, and Edwards followed suit increasing the lead by 2. Scott then walked and was brought home when Rodriguez hit a two run shot that traveled 373 ft.
Connecticut scored one in the top of the eighth, and then Dan Lewis capped off the offensive fireworks with a solo shot of his own. Lewis’ homerun brought the total number of Trendsetter homeruns to six for the game, and a victory winning 8-4.
In the interview following the game manager Escalante, grinned like a cat and after answering a few question left a roll of tape on the podium.
