(Another) New Malts GM
Hey everybody! I've already been chatting with you guys a little bit in the Slack, but figured I'd drop by and make a post here as well. I'm new to online leagues with OOTP, but have run literally hundreds of season of solo games on versions dating all the way back to the first one. While I'm new to multiplayer leagues with this sim, I've been playing simulation leagues for over two decades (well over half of my life) at this point, and actually run two football league sims as well: the fictional ISFL (with the '21 version of the sim) and the semi-historical/alternate reality XFL Sim ('22 version). I know two of you other GMs from past online leagues and was just going through the team history page on here and realize that I knew another 4-5 who are no longer around.
I live in New York City on the Upper West Side of Manhattan right now, working in People Operations for one of those big, evil, tech companies. I moved out here from the West Coast though, where I spent my life split between SoCal and the meth side of Washington state (Spokane) before I moved to the Bay Area where I studied at Cal. I'm a huge NFL (Broncos) and NBA (Lakers) fan and am an avid baseball fan as well. I claim the Angels and used to work for them in hospitality and promotions, but if I'm being real honest I'm more a fan of the statistics, analytics, and numbers side of the game than I am anything else.
Outside of the sports world, I'm an avid comedy fan and concert-goer--was even able to attend a show in Chicago where I hung with Greg (Alleghenies GM) a few years back. I can't say that the girlfriend is too excited about me joining another "fantasy fantasy" league, but I can say that I'm pumped to get things underway. I just sent in my first full set of orders, and am going to do what I can to get to know the league and players better for the rest of this season. Also always happy to discuss trade, advice, strategy, or anything else from you guys who are a bit more experienced than I am. Looking forward to competing soon!

Glad you're here, Jay! Here's hoping you can be the first GM to finally bring Madison a playoff game.

If I had any idea what you were alluding to, Michael, I might tip my hat in thanks. But … what is Madhouse on Madison?

Re: (Another) New Malts GM
It's a Chicago reference to the stadium used by both the Chicago Bulls (NBA) and the Chicago Blackhawks (NHL). https://history.bulls.com/the-madhouse-on-madison/
The old Chicago stadium, and despite it being torn down the name persists in the new United Center stadium they both use now. Being a Chicago native, we love that name.

Re: (Another) New Malts GM
Locals will refer to Madison as Mad City at times, but I don't think that has traveled far and I don't think it's super popular the way Rip City is in Portland.

Re: (Another) New Malts GM
I sort of took liberties with it, as Frank mentioned, the actual nickname for Madison in Wisconsin is Mad City.
I went with Madison, the street the "Madhouse" is on in Chicago. Having lived in both WI and IL, I'm just familiar with both is all.

Thanks everybody! Didn't pick up the "Madhouse" reference either.
Are owner goals and expectations something we should be cognizant of here?
