Novel Published
The detective novel I've been working on for ten years has finally been published in e-book format. You can download a free copy from Apple Books (if you have the app) by searching for the title:
"A Department to Die For." It's a murder mystery that takes place in a university Writing Department, so there's a fair amount of academic satire included. I wrote it to get some revenge against the faculty who made my life miserable back in Michigan, eventually forcing me to leave my job there and move west. Finishing it was very satisfying. If you like academic satires or academic mysteries, you might find it amusing.

Wow. That's an amazing accomplishment, Bob. You should be very proud.
I will definitely give that a read. If it's anything like your PEBA work I'm sure it'll be a hoot.

Re: Novel Published
Brian, no, this is not my first publication, just my first novel. I've been a writer for most of my 70 years publishing articles and poems and short stories, plus two books: one a theoretical analysis of plays by Sam Beckett, Harold Pinter and Edward Albee; the other a memoir of my experiences as a teacher of writing. And then--since you asked--there are all those plays I wrote and produced, only a couple of which were ever published. My last play produced was a zany farce entitled "The Thief, the Madman, Quixote and the Magic Doors," in 2018.
Plus a few hundred stories about a PEBA General Manager of the Yuma baseball club who has spent more than a decade in the Camarillo State Hospital.
Now you know. Thanks for asking.

Fair warning, John: it’s not really holiday fare. But if murder mysteries are your morning cup of tea, enjoy!
