I go 3-1 against a team that sweeps its next series and then get swept against a team that started 1-3. Symmetry I guess. But that's why we play 162.

Only 3 guys were taken in the Rule-V??? Is that a record for fewest?Alleghenies wrote:I did a quick glimpse of Rule 5 picks this season, so far all but 3 have been kept.

I think he meant only three who were drafted were kept by the team who drafted them - the others would have been returned to their original team...Thoroughbreds wrote:Only 3 guys were taken in the Rule-V??? The Longshoremen kept all three Rule 5 guys we selected, a third baseman and two pitchers.

It was painful putting up 7 runs on Marty Snijders last sim. Always liked him but wasn't sure if he was going to make it in Toyama.Longshoremen wrote:The Longshoremen kept all three Rule 5 guys we selected, a third baseman and two pitchers.
Ironically, Dylan Mcintosh was the pitcher he faced that game and those two both played in Beppu City last season. They were a 1-2 punch.

We need to pick up the pace a little more, our pitching is not too great and most hitters are struggling...

Look out league. I'm 6-1 versus teams not from San Antonio...thankfully I don't see them again until late July.

I haven't downloaded tonight's sim yet, let's hope it is better than the last one Not only did we drop 6 of 7 games, we also lost a member of our starting rotation, the spot we are most vulnerable already, for the entire season! Tonight's sim HAS to have gone better than that....hasn't it?

Re: Neat Stuff, Post-Sim Thread: 2027, Season 21
This week was an overall positive one in Toyama after sweeping Bakersfield 3-0 but then dropping to Okinawa 1-2. Both new signings from the last sim were impactful this week. Eijiro Nakagawa pitched 5.2 innings of relief across 3 games racking up 9 K's in that time period. The bullpen has been rocking which is a new feeling for the Wind Dancers. Mike Harris had a great week as well hitting .318 in his first week of Toyama and contributing 2 HR's and 6 RBI's. Harris had at least 1 hit in each of the 6 games he played in which is exactly what we were looking for when we signed him. Francois Gosselin (1.37) and rookie Dylan Mcintosh (3.55) are both pitching well and are leading the rotation while Vincente Medina (0.00 ERA, 5 SV) has been lights out in the pen.
There are still some significant speed bumps at the moment. Clayton Lewis has been getting lit up as he sits with a 9.88 ERA and only 1 QS so far but I expect him to turn things around eventually. The Injury bug also bit us again with star 2B Jose Escobido going down with shoulder inflammation for 8-9 weeks. Skip Jordan, who Mike Harris replaced in the depth chart, will return to Toyama to cover the 2B role.
Losing 2 starting pitchers for long period this season Toyama needed to bring in some short-term help. That help comes in the form of Charles Kennedy who pitched for Kalamazoo for the past 8 years. Kennedy is by no means a star, but he should be able to at least survive on the mound for a few months while Hashimoto recovers.

Could we get a Statslab update? Or have someone do it regularly?

Well a flat simulation for the Gnats. 2 series losses were not good. Mostly because Yarbrough was placed out with a medium day to day injury and the AI decided to place one of our worst hitters at lead off. The Zhou at closer experiment might be coming to a quick end as he also blew 2 saves and put up a loss in one week. I'll give it the rest of April to see how it works out, but both my manager and bench coach want him there. I do trust Matterson, he has proven results, but he made some really bad decisions this week. Adjusted the line up to override him so should have a better chance this week until Yarbrough is healthy.
