My name is Kevin and I am taking over the Hartford Harpoon. I've been playing OOTP for about 5 years now. I am Calgary in the MBWBA and have been in a couple of other leagues that are now defunct. Thanks for giving me in a spot in such a cool league as this one. It will take me a couple of days to get up to speed and it looks like I am already in a playoff hunt. I look forward to talking and trading with everyone.
Glad to have another Kevin here. Welcome aboard!

PEBA is a hell of a league and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Two Kevin's in one league? Never had that before. Hmmm. Not unique anymore....(Reconsiders whether joining was a good Thing........decides to embrace new experience)

Well... We've had a pair of Kevin's (and three Mike's) for a long time as Florida was run by a Kevin for the league's long history - having just stepped down...

Hello all
My name is bart and I am the new GM for the ghosts. A little about me

I am a high school student. So I have a good amount of time now that school is letting up. I play baseball and I am a bowler. I bowl competitively and not to brag but I'm pretty good. Baseball is one of my favorite things ever. MLB network is pretty much all I watch. I always am playing OOTP or the show.
I am currently in 5 other online leagues and am very active in all of them. I have actually only had OOTP since November. I have both 16 and 17. I joined my first online leave right before Christmas and am still in it.
I am VERY excited to be a part of this league as it is a new type of experience. I love to write when I can choose what it's about(sadly for the sake of English class I hate writing when I'm told what I have to write). I hope to build my team into a perennial contender and enjoy the league.

That's me for ya.
Have a great Memorial Day.

Glad to have you aboard Bart. You've got enough in Niihama-shi to keep you occupied, they never really recovered from coming over from the LRS to the PEBA and could do with a complete make-over

Here's the secret ... honestly ... take whatever boundaries they give you, and twist it in a direction you enjoy. Need to write a book report on something blah, compare it to a baseball game, or compare a character to a player, or to an actress ... or cast the entire book/story with people you think should play the parts and add in why in terms of the assignment ... whatever. Anything that makes the process fun. Do that, and almost every teacher on the face of the earth will love you. :)

Welcome, Bart. Pay attention to Ron's advice, he's right. When you get those sucky writing assignments that English teachers seem genetically predisposed to assign, you have to find a way to connect what you're interested in to that assignment. Make it your own. That's the only way any of us write when told to write.

I had a student this semester who did not want to write about how Cuban baseball influenced Cuban culture. (Yeah, I know, you'd have dug the assignment, but not all students want to write about baseball. Go figure.) She struggled, but she realized she wanted to tell the story of HER father's baseball experience as a kid growing up in Mexico. So she did a little research and learned that Mexico and Cuba have been sharing baseball players for nearly a century. With that link, she was able to talk about her father's baseball experiences and suggest a parallel with the kinds of experiences Cuban fathers would have had with baseball. And that gave her a great paper: lively, personal, and something she wanted to write.

You can do that, man. It's all a matter of imagination. Think outside that square little assignment box the teacher gave you. Then find the link, the connector, the trail that allows you to connect your writing with the teacher's assignment.

Happy PEBAing!
