Alleghenies Acquire Raul Garcia from Connecticut
WEST VIRGINIA — Last night, the Alleghenies acquired veteran-infielder, Raul Garcia from Connecticut in exchange for Jose Solis. Alleghenies will also receive outfielder, En-guo Guao, a 4th round pick, and a 5th round pick from Connecticut. Sure, on Connecticut’s perspective, this trade is purely a ‘strategic move’, but this trade will benefit the Alleghenies tremendously. It’s no secret that the Alleghenies have been looking for an upgrade at second base. GM Imasa went on the record and said that the team is currently looking for a second baseman that has a good glove and also a good hitter. The team just got that -and then some- in Raul Garcia.
“It’s truly a blessing. I honestly thought we would have a hard time finding a player like Raul (Garcia) that easy. He will definitely fit in right away with our team. I can guarantee you that.” GM Imasa said to the press today.
When asked about Garcia’s lumping contract, the GM responded.
“It didn’t matter to me. Raul is worth the price of the admission. But then again, this is just my opinion.”
When the press asked Garcia about his time as a Nutmegger last season, he had this to say.
“I didn’t like my performance last year. I thought I could put up better numbers than what I did last year. I will do my best to accomplish that as a Alleghenies.”
Garcia is expected to start at second base for the Alleghenies come opening day. Current second baseman, Mike Herr will move to shortstop. Ed Jones and Phil Thomas will play as infield backups.
Many Alleghenies fans are very excited about this trade, and they should be. Garcia will be in Alleghenies uniform for at least one full season ($18, 050, 000). However, he has a player option for 2021 ($20, 150, 000).
