Stop the Streaking in Tempe
The streaking in Tempe has been unbearable.
The Knights started the month off losing 4 straight, including a 3 game sweep by rivals the Yuma Bulldozers. Then they follow the streak with a 5 game win streak. Oh and it’s doesn’t stop there. They follow that streak with a 7 game losing streak. Yes, there’s more. Tempe then wins 3 straight. Then after 4 games of win-lose-win-lose, they are now in the midst of a 5 game losing streak, including the last 3 games to Yuma once again. If they win the last game of the 4 game series, it not only pushes the losing streak to 6 games but will complete 3 straight series sweeps by Yuma and the Knights haven’t beaten their cross state rival Dozers since they swept them in a 4 game series back in May. Those are series streaks on their own.
And speaking of sweeps, 3B Javier Padilla’s 21 game hitting streak was snapped in….you guessed it….August. Padilla has been on fire as of late. As has the rest of the Knight lineup. But with a team ERA of 4.84, they’re not going to win many ballgames. So it’s on to September to see if anything “falls” into place or if there is just more falling going on with this Tempe Knights baseball team.
