Celestial Warriors Gamble on Juuki with the Gambler
Tuesday, November 22, 2016
After almost coming to terms for an extension during the season, Salvador “The Gambler” Medrano fired his agent Charles McCheapy and hired the services of Gold Diggers ‘R Us. His asking price increased to $12 million a year. At that moment, Fushigi Yugi GM Greg Abcarian told Medrano’s new agents that there would be no further discussions and that Medrano would be juukied. The agency didn’t believe Abcarian would do it because it would entail giving Medrano a no-trade clause and probably make 2017 the last year in a C-Warriors uniform for the most popular player in team history.
“Look, I tried everything I could to make this extension possible,” said Abrcarian. I got the owner to agree to pay him. Medrano was very excited about the progress, and so were the fans when the news leaked. Well, it all turned south when that new agency stepped in. I don’t know who they think their client is, but there is no way that Medrano is worth $20 million a year for the next nine years. I think Medrano listened to his new agency and took a gamble, but this is one gamble The Gambler won’t win. I will offer him an extension later this year to see if his asking price has gone down, but if it hasn’t, well… I assume we will be bidding goodbye at the end of the season to him.”
“I will be happy to see Medrano in our lineup again every day, but I am worried that he will be disgruntled and not perform to his maximum capacity. He is a leader in the clubhouse and the spirit behind this team. When he is running on all cylinders, so is the team. Hopefully, next season, we can move up into the playoffs with his help,” said manager Matsusuke Tanaka.
In other news, the team announced that it will be parting ways with Saikaku Sato and Masmichi Takaki. Both were pending free agents. Due to their age and the fact that the C-Warriors have LRS replacements ready, it was not a hard decision. Also, it let the team open up a few spots on the 35-man roster to protect some more players from the Rule 5 draft.
Coming up in the next few days: the season review.
