UPDATE: Body found in Illinois Park Identified as Jane Woods
Story Updated – 8:47 a.m. EST, July 31, 2014
Arlington, VA – After Daniel J. Woods was found late last night, hopes were high that his wife would also be found unharmed. Instead, the worst-case scenario ends the prolonged hunt for the missing couple. A body confirmed to be Mrs. Woods’s was found early this morning, an FBI source reported to The Arlington Connection.
According to her husband, the couple was abducted from their Arlington home by members of a terrorist sleeper cell. The group was allegedly holding the former Senator and his wife hostage for a substantial ransom and revealed to them that similar kidnappings were being planned. After their son Elias failed to cooperate with the terrorists, the Woods were separated from each other. Senator Woods described his captors as “passive” and was hopeful that his wife would also return home safely. No suspects have been named and the sleeper cell has yet to be linked to an established terrorist network. Nonetheless, the FBI has launched a massive manhunt using several tips and leads obtained from the ongoing investigation.
Considering the recent lack of terrorism in the United States, this attack has come as a shock to many. Following the debriefing of Senator Woods, the Department of Homeland Security has utilized the National Terrorism Advisory System for the first time in two years. Current and retired politicians will be issued personal security to deter future attacks of this nature.
Members of the Woods family were not available for comment. A private service will be held for Jane Woods on an unspecified date this weekend.
