Transmitters Transmitting

6/21/2013: Kawaguchi, Japan – A late-breaking transmission from the States reports that the Kawaguchi LRS franchise has found their new General Manager, and it’s American corporate mover Ron Collins.  The announcement comes just as the team is preparing to host the Neo-Tokyo Akira, and on the eve of the ever-important amateur draft.

“I don’t know much about baseball in Japan,” Collins was quoted earlier this morning, “but I think it would be a great opportunity.  I understand the previous administration has left a pretty nice foundation to build from.”

Rumors are that Collins is in-flight and will accept the reigns in a late-night meeting.  Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Kawaguchi Gets Their Man: Ron Collins Hired to be Team’s New General Manager

LRS_logoaltThe Kawaguchi Transmitters are proud to announce that Ron Collins, one of America’s most noted corporate leaders, will be assuming the role of Transmitters General Manager, effective immediately.

“Before his passing earlier this month, my father implored me to find a strong, experienced leader for our team,” said team owner Hoso Kyokai Jr.  “Ron Collins has been a friend of the Kyokai family for many years.  He is an honored businessman, respected for transforming struggling ventures into thriving enterprises.  I know my father would be proud to see Mr. Collins leading the Transmitters to victory, and I know our fans will be just as proud.”

Kawaguchi and Collins have been in negotiations for weeks.  A deal was finally closed yesterday evening.  Mr. Collins will be arriving in Kawaguchi shortly, at which time a press conference will be held to introduce the fans to their team’s new GM.  Though he will retain an active role in his current business endeavors, Mr. Collins will be devoting his full attention to the needs of the team.

In addition to his well-documented business career, Mr. Collins is a noted baseball scholar.  His treatises on baseball theory and strategy, published on popular baseball website oneoutthepitch.com, have earned him a devoted following, and his opinions on various baseball matters ranging from development of prospects to typical career arcs of players are highly sought-after.  Mr. Collins is also a noted author of both fiction and nonfiction; Typosphere is the online home of his creative work.

Mr. Kyokai, Jr. feels certain that Mr. Collins will restore the Transmitters to their former glory.  “Kawaguchi has a long tradition of success.  As the Yamato Battlerships, we won two of the first three Neo-Tokyo Cups ever awarded.  Winning is part of our legacy.  We will accept no less than complete victory; our fans will accept no less, either.  That is why we have made Ron Collins our new General Manager.  He is a man who knows how to reclaim glory.  I look forward to him working his magic on our Transmitters.”
