Today marks the start of the 2011 Neo-Tokyo Cup, the championship series of the League of the Rising Sun.  The league’s two best teams face each other for the right to be called the best of the best.  This year’s match-up features the teams with the best records in their respective Group.  It promises to be an exciting race to the Cup!

Edo Battousai (88-56) vs Niihama-shi Ghosts (99-45)

EDO Wins 4-0

Congratulations to the Edo Battousai, the 2011 Neo-Tokyo Cup Champions!

The Ghosts chased the Evas all season, finally eclipsing them in the last week of the season to clinch the Shining Star Group title.  The Evas took them to the brink in the SSG Wasei Junkesshou, but Niihama-shi pulled off a Game 7 victory to advance to the NTC.

After a tight race all season between Edo and Kuwana, the Battousai pulled away in mid-September and climbed to the Bright Blade Group title.  They made quick work of the Steel Dragons, sweeping them in four games, and now enter the NTC fully rested and ready to roll.
