Today the postseason kicks off for the League of the Rising Sun.  An exciting first round is expected, as each team knows each other very well as they have battled each other many times thought the season.  The best-of-seven Wasei Junkesshou match ups are set with the top teams from the Bright Blade and Shining Star groups getting home field advantage for the entire series.

Shining Star Group

Shin Seiki Evas (97-47) vs Niihama-shi Ghosts (99-45)

NII Wins 4-3

The Ghosts have chased the Evas all season, finally eclipsing them in the last week of the season to clinch the Shining Star Group title.  The Evas were the front-runner in the LRS all season.  Devastated by injuries to key players, the depth of the team propelled them through the season.

Bright Blade Group

Kuwana Steel Dragons (84-60) vs Edo Battousai (88-56)

EDO Wins 4-0

After a tight race all season between Edo and Kuwana, the Battousai pulled away in mid-September and climbed to the group title.  Kuwana edged out the Fushigi Yugi Celestial Warriors by one game to clinch the final playoff spot.
