Transmitter batters couldn't take a bite out of CookieTuesday, May 17th, 2011 is a day that will live on forever in the annals of LRS history.  Today Shunsuke “Cookie” Takayama bought himself a ticket to the Hall of Fame.  In what is the biggest story to hit the LRS so far this season, Cookie hurled a 119-pitch masterpiece of a perfect game against Kawaguchi.

The Transmitters were completely dazzled.  The closest they came to producing any offense was the 4 times they managed to work the count full.  But they can hardly be blamed for that, as balls were hard to come by.  Only 35 of Cookie’s 119 pitches were outside the strike zone.

The Transmitters are certainly known as a weak offensive team, averaging only 2.94 runs per game, but that in no way diminishes Cookie’s unprecedented feat.  Even if his arm were to fall off tomorrow and he never pitched again, this achievement will live on forever in the Hall of Fame in some manner.  He has given himself a legacy that will endure the test of time.  That has to feel good.

Takayama has wasted no time in taking advantage of his newly amplified status.  Sources say that contract extension talks with Evas management have been affected.  Cookie is sticking to his guns and asking for the Moon.  Let’s hope that in the end, Mr. Vail can get something worked out.  It would be an absolute shame to see Japan’s first Mr. Perfect prostituted out to the West like so many before him.
