AURORA, CO — With the recent announcement of the PEBA's interest in the Japanese League of the Rising Sun, more rumours have begun to circulate about just how deep the PEBA's involvement is going to be.

Currently on shaky financial footing – not unlike Major League Baseball itself in 2004-2006, just prior to the rise of the PEBA – it's no secret that the LRS has been seeking financial partners over the last couple of years in order to remain viable.  However, with the world economy in a tailspin, individual teams are having difficulty finding and maintaining relationships with both investors and advertisers.  However, in spite of the economy and under the guidance of Commissioner John Rodriguez, Sr., the PEBA has withstood the financial crisis and actually prospered.

It's believed that the Commissioner has been working behind the scenes to come up with investors for the new league.  Once those commitments are made, it's expected the PEBA will purchase the LRS outright, bring in the new owners and rebrand everything.  At the forefront will be Madison Ave. advertising firm Sterling Cooper, the same company that has helped the PEBA gain a foothold on the North American sports scene.

"We're always looking to the future," said Commissioner Rodriguez when reached at his palatial estate in Aurora.  "But all I know about Japan is that they sure know how to make sushi."

When pressed on the issue of the PEBA purchasing and taking over the LRS, the octogenarian wouldn't confirm anything, but he didn't deny it, either.

"Well, doing something like taking over the LRS would certainly be a bold move for anyone brave enough to attempt it.  You might even say it would cement one's legacy."

With the PEBA season racing down the homestretch and the playoffs just around the corner, the league doesn't have much time to get things together if they hope to be in charge come next season.
