Coal Sox Manager Zamora Suspended 6 Games

The Office of the Commissioner of the PEBA announced today that West Virginia Coal Sox manager Armando Zamora has received a 6-game suspension for actions following Saturday afternoon’s game against the Kentucky Thoroughbreds.  Mr. Zamora caused damage to the visitor’s clubhouse in Churchill 1 during a postgame meeting with his team.  The League Office received an official complaint from the Thoroughbreds along with an itemized list of damages, including (but not limited to):

  • One (1) HD television set (est. $5,000)
  • Twelve (12) lockers (est. $14,000)
  • Five (5) cases of vintage 19th-century Kentucky Bourbon (est. $37,500)

The PEBA holds its employees to the highest standards of behavior.  Mr. Zamora showed poor judgment in this case, and it is the league’s determination that he should be suspended without pay from his managerial duties for a period of six games.  During this time Mr. Zamora is to have no contact with Coal Sox players or personnel.

The Coal Sox organization shall pay a sum of $50,000 to the Kentucky Thoroughbreds for damages rendered to the visitor’s clubhouse of Churchill 1.  An additional $50,000 will be donated by the Coal Sox to a charity of the Kentucky’s choosing.  Thoroughbreds owner William Shatner has requested the money be directed to Blossoms for Booze, a charity providing clothing and education for the wards of Jamaica’s Blossom Garden Orphanage by employing them as rum distillers.

While repairs are being rendered on the visitor’s clubhouse, West Virginia players and personnel will be assigned to use the groundskeepers’ office and prep room under the centerfield scoreboard for the remainder of the series.  The visitor’s clubhouse will be ready for use when San Antonio arrives for a 3-game series next Saturday.

The league has denied Kentucky’s petition to have to have tonight’s game postponed, as Churchill 1’s playing field has in no way been rendered unusable.
