News from Tempe
5/24/2008: Tempe, AZ – Knights GM Chris Van Hauter announced that he has acquired reliever José Ortíz from the New Orleans Trendsetters for backup first baseman John Greene. Ortíz will take Domingo Cuna's spot in the bullpen while Cuna recovers from a back injury. The Knights also called up Ken Price from Chandler. Price slugged 12 homeruns before his promotion.
In other news, third baseman Randy Davis has thrived since Cristián Vega moved him up to third in the order. Davis has been on a tear of late and has raised his average to .340 while paying stellar defense. Davis has also been a clubhouse leader and has been a major influence on Tempe’s young club.
Van Hauter also announced that he has offered extensions to hitting coach Oscar Patterson, pitching coach Gonzalo Ledesma, and scouts Matt Pratt, Ray Moss, and Gerald Braun. All will be in the Tempe organization through 2012.
