Exclusive Opening remarks of GM Joshua Houser
12/28/2007: Gloucester, MA – “I am clearly happy to announce my newly signed contract with Gloucester. I have always wanted to call a New England state my home, because the people here are so great. I true desire is to create an environment of professionalism and sportsmanship for our team. With my experience in baseball management – which is not saying much – I plan to open up this season with a team that can be seen by its spectators as being competitive and proud. I hope to make my way around the league and introduce myself as much as possible and open lines of communications to help not only others but Gloucester as well. Thank you for your time, and I bid all a good evening.”

Despite the understaffed and budgeted Fisherman ownership, new GM Joshua Houser expressed optimism today after he poked through the lineups and staffing assignments. “We are far from a championship,” said Houser, but then remarked, “There is still the pre-season and dark horse stars in the mix.”
The only hope for this team is indeed a dark horse. It seems the Fisherman budget was left empty and six staff members had to be newly hired. Houser has also made clear his ambition to dive into the free agent market for minor-league hopefuls and to look forward to a season of ups and downs. Still, Houser left the meetings today saying his team has a lot of talent and might be able to create a few surprises this season. Let's cross our fingers and hope for a good outcome!
Stars of the Diamond:
Catcher Lorenzo Torres will be returning this season with hopes of powering his club with another solid year at the plate. Torres hit for .306 last season and is 33 years young going into this spring. This means there is still some power in the engine, so we can expect a great effort this season and hope for the best!
King of the Hill:
29-year-old ace Cristián De Jesús said he was ready for another season on the mound during an interview this week with our reporters. "I will try to create as many quality starts as possible this year." If anyone can do it, Jesús can!
