| Breaking News |  | Yamato 2011 Dokaben Champions Friday, October 7th, 2011: Nobody played better baseball this season than the Ruukii Kyuugi champions, the Yamato Battleships.
They defeated the Meiji Emperors 9-3 today at Heian Palace and hauled in the Dokaben trophy for the 1st time in their history.
In regular season play, Yamato chalked up a 56-40 record and wound up second in the Amachua. |  | Murata Shuts out Yamato Thursday, October 6th, 2011: In an impressive outing Takanibu Murata hurled nothing but zeros at the Battleships today at Heian Palace. The Meiji pitcher allowed 5 hits, fanned 6 and walked 1 in blanking Yamato 3-0.
Murata has fashioned a 12-3 mark for the season, 1.52 ERA and thrown 153.2 innings in 23 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .200 against him. |  | Yamato Whitewashes Meiji, Yokoyama Winner Wednesday, October 5th, 2011: In an outstanding outing, Hyotaru Yokoyama tamed Meiji on a 4-hit shutout. The Yamato hurler went the distance, finishing with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in the 3-0 win.
"He had a lot of first pitch strikes and kept us off balance with a lot of off-speed stuff," according to the Meiji manager. "We just didn't get too many balls squared up today."
This year Yokoyama has registered 10 wins and 2 losses in 18 starts with a 1.43 ERA while registering 95 strikeouts and 33 walks in 138.2 innings. | | | | |
