 | Kono Crowned Top SSG Hitter in July Monday, August 1st, 2011: The premier hitter in the Shining Star Group in July was Kawaguchi shortstop Isao Kono. For his standout play, he was voted the Batter of the Month. Kono was selected after batting .293, hitting 11 home runs, scoring 23 runs and driving in 30. This year Kono has collected a .250 batting average to date with 74 hits in 296 at-bats, 49 RBIs, 14 home runs and scored 42 times. He has played in 79 games. |
