Bulldozers End Pope's Streak
Sunday, October 1st, 2028
Aurora left fielder River Pope came into today's game against the Yuma Bulldozers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.

The Bulldozers did their jobs well, beating the Aurora Borealis 4-0 and holding Pope hitless to snap his 20-game hitting streak. The 33-year-old left fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short."

"What River did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Borealis manager Kata Hayagawa. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

This year Pope is batting .261 with 135 hits and 1 home run. He has scored 39 times and has batted in 30 runs.
