League Championship Goes the Distance, Crystal Lake Prevails Thursday, November 13th, 2025 The League Championship went the distance before it all was said and done. The Crystal Lake Sandgnats and the Aurora Borealis went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Northern Lights Park, the winner was the Sandgnats. They put away Aurora 7-6 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the Planetary Extreme Championship. For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Aurora right fielder Paul Carlisle was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .423, scored 6 runs and batted in 7 to win the honor. "It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said.
