Bears SP Sakai Tosses Masterpiece Monday, September 8th, 2025 Today was Yoichibei Sakai's turn in the rotation for the Bakersfield Bears and he made the most of it, shutting out the Kalamazoo Badgers on 7 hits. The 30-year-old right-hander led the Bears to an easy 6-0 victory, allowing no walks and tallying 3 strikeouts. "I hope we miss him next time," Kalamazoo manager Yoriyuki Kiyomizu said. "Sakai certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
