Amézaga Impressive in Ciudad Juarez Win
The Ciudad Juarez Velas beat the Merida Adelantados, 2-1. Ciudad Juarez pitcher and Juarez, Mexico, native Jorge Amézaga led the way. The 6th-place Velas now have a win-loss record of 35-42.

Amézaga, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 6 in 8 innings and gave up 1 run.

Amézaga, who is tied for 7th in the ABSF-MEX AAA in wins with 8, moves to 8-4 on the year with 63 strikeouts.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Amézaga told the Ciudad Juarez Observer. "You win just by scoring more runs."
