Chinook Lose Late, 3-2
|
The Long Beach Oilers got a good effort from starter Armando Guerrero in defeating the Portland Chinook at Ballpark of Queens. The final score was 3-2. The winner was Long Beach reliever Hayden Rudder, now 3-3. The loser was Jerome Evans. With the win, Long Beach goes to 47-27, while the Chinook fall to 26-48.
Alec Woodford found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the ninth. Facing Portland hurler Jerome Evans, the 19-year-old pinch hitter hit a sacrifice fly. His 10th RBI of the season put the Oilers on top, 3-2.
"Feels good to get the job done," Woodford said after the game.
