The bats were silent much of the day at Ballpark of Katsuura College. But Harumi Miyamoto conjured up just enough offense to carry the Unicorns past the Rikkyo University Bishops, 3-1. Miyamoto was 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Tsuyoshi Yano. He tossed 82 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Kazunari Oike recorded the save for Keio University, his 9th of the season.
Early in the game, Miyamoto had a 2-run home run for Keio University. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Unicorns on top, 2-0.
"We played hard and won," said Miyamoto. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
Today's win puts Keio University at 17-15, while Rikkyo University falls to 15-17.
