Tempe used a superb performance from starting pitcher Donnie Wheeler to down the Aurora Borealis, 3-1. Wheeler got the win, improving to 8-1. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Wheeler allowed 1 run. Shane Perales earned the save, his 10th, for the Apollos.
In the top of the ninth, the Apollos had to halt a comeback by the Apollos. The score was 3-1, Tempe, with one out. Aurora had a runner on 1st. But Rocky Kowalski, on a first pitch fastball from Shane Perales, lined out.
Tempe's record now stands at 33-22, placing them second in the Sovereign League Desert Hills.
