The University of Tokyo Imperials faced a tough opponent in Meiji University pitcher Yoshitaka Matsuda, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Velociraptors Ballpark by a final score of 3-2. Matsuda went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner in relief was Kanezane Morimoto. He is now 1-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The save went to Takuro Yano, number 3 for him.

University of Tokyo used a clutch hit from Sadahige Kokawa to get the win. The second baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Imperials ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Imperials manager Toshikazu Koyama.

University of Tokyo is 13-10 and Meiji University, with the loss, 9-14.
