Jones Excels, But Traders Win
The Kenai Traders and Akutan Island Eagles lit up the scoreboard.

Akutan Island catcher David Jones was sensational. He went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Kenai beat the Eagles, 12-8. Kenai, now 7-2, is setting the league on fire so far.

Kenai used the bat of Tom Phillips to get the win. The pinch hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Traders ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it did its damage.

In comments to the Kenai Today, Phillips admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
