Claymores Walk It Off for 82nd Win of Season
|
The Castle was rocking after an exciting Claymores win.
In a close game at The Castle, the Scottish Claymores edged the New Jersey Hitmen, 5-4. Scottish left fielder Takejiro Kawashima stood apart with his performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Scottish reliever Keiji Honda picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Scott Courtier absorbed the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Scottish second baseman Eric Nelson, facing Scott Courtier, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Claymores the 5-4 win.
In comments to the Scottish Times, Nelson admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
Scottish now sits in first place in the Imperial League Trans Atlantic at 82-49.
