The Bakersfield Bears topped the Aurora Borealis, 4-3, at Northern Lights Park. Bakersfield designated hitter Yuji Kichida banged out 2 singles and 2 doubles, while driving in 2 runs. Jeffrey Mendoza got the win, improving to 10-11. He held the Borealis to 1 run on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 0 and walking 2. The loss makes Aurora 65-65.
With Bakersfield leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Kichida hit a 2-run single off Aurora hurler Henry Cluett. It was the 38th hit of the season for Kichida and put his team ahead, 4-0.
Aurora manager Michel Provost said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
