Spell Swords Get 14-Inning Win
|
The Ikari Warriors got a superb performance from pitcher Roberto Toledo, but the Lodoss Spell Swords still won the game, 3-2. Toledo threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Lodoss, now 25-41, holds down last place in the Pacific Alliance Cherry Blossom.
The Spell Swords procured the win, in large part because of second baseman Nariaki Tanaka. In the bottom of the 14th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
During his postgame press conference, Spell Swords manager Iwao Kuhabara told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
