The Kumamoto Mothra had to overcome a big game from Sherwood Park first baseman Shimei Yashiki to leave Ibaraki Grounds with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. Yashiki went 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. Kumamoto reliever Roberto Rodríguez was the winner. His record is now 4-8. The losing pitcher was Lars Bonekamp. The 4th-place Mothra improved to 25-39.

Tom Randall helped out the Kumamoto cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 3.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Randall, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
