Drillers Improve to 34-27 with 5-1 Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Toronto Phantoms and Medicine Hat Drillers get after it.
The Medicine Hat Drillers got a strong performance from pitcher Ieyoshi Kiyomizu, who stymied the Toronto offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Medicine Hat Municipal Stadium. Kiyomizu picked up the win for Medicine Hat, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-6.
The Drillers got an important contribution from first baseman Veit Thoms, who in the bottom of the first punched a 0-1 fastball into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Drillers ahead, 3-0.
"Feels good to get the job done," Thoms said after the game.
Medicine Hat is now 34-27, while Toronto is 45-16.
