The Reno Zephyrs topped the Palm Springs Codgers, 5-3, with left fielder Steve Boyer playing a big role. Boyer went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Zephyrs in the win. Reno reliever Rudy Howard was the winner. His record is now 7-1. Ricardo Pineda took the loss. Anthony Soame collected his 27th save.

Griff Aspinwall hit a run-scoring triple off Ricardo Pineda in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Zephyrs in front, 4-3. Aspinwall had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 4.
