Alleghenies Raise Rally Flag, Beat New Jersey, 6-2
|
The West Virginia Alleghenies relied on the hitting of first baseman Francisco Lucador to stop the New Jersey Hitmen, 6-2. For the game, Lucador went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Eduardo Torres, now 3-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. At 31-22, the Alleghenies are currently first in the Imperial League Seaboard.
Lucador had a timely hit for West Virginia in the top of the eighth. With New Jersey trailing 2-1, he turned a 0-2 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season, making it 3-2, West Virginia.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Lucador said after the game.
