The Sacramento Deltas did just enough to sneak past the Victoria Orcas, 4-3, at Saint Petersburg Grounds. Sacramento pitcher Steve Struck, in particular, had a standout performance. Struck, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The Deltas now have a mark of 23-16.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Willie Ellis came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Victoria pitcher Ramiro Ruíz, he hit a 2-2 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Sacramento on top, 2-1.

Ellis called the win "a team effort."
